Sculpting Narrative with Michelle Solorzano
August 9th & 10th
&
October 4th & 5th
Two 2-day workshops!
We’re thrilled to announce that Michelle Solórzano will be joining us to lead two 2-day workshops! Learn how to sculpt a clay head and/or build a full figure in clay.
Face It! Sculpting Clay Heads
$265
Saturday, August 9th & Sunday, August 10th
10am to 4pm
In this 2-day workshop, you will create a life-sized head of a person of your choice. You will learn how to use reference images showing the front, sides, and back of the head to build a hollow bust using the slab-building technique. We will practice sculpting facial features by pushing out the form from the inside and using additive methods to refine it. You can choose either a neutral or dramatic facial expression.
Playful Figures
$265
Saturday, October 4th & Sunday, October 5th
10am to 4pm
In this 2-day workshop, you will create a full figure in the pose of your choice. The figure can be as abstract or naturalistic as you like. You will learn how to use reference images and/or sketches of a person from multiple angles to build a hollow figure using the slab-building technique. We will use templates for all the body parts, transforming 2D shapes into 3D forms. The figure will be assembled at the leather-hard stage, and we will practice sculpting facial features by pushing out the form and using additive methods to refine and polish it.
