Workshop Description:
Join renowned studio potter Danny Meisinger for a 3-day hands-on workshop that invites potters of all levels to deepen their connection to clay through skill-building, reflection, and thoughtful exploration of form.Danny’s teaching style is rooted in clarity, metaphor, and care; cultivating a learning space where beginners and advanced potters work side by side. With a focus on form (whether functional or sculptural), students will gain not only a better understanding of what’s happening between their hands, but also insight into the material’s deeper nature.
Expect a participatory workshop rich in demonstration and discussion, where you’ll sharpen your skills, reflect on your process, and challenge your assumptions about what clay can do and what it can teach. Danny’s approach is refreshingly honest, grounded in decades of experience, and guided by a spirit of curiosity and generosity.
Whether you’re just starting your journey with clay or seeking to expand your voice as a potter, this workshop offers a meaningful space to grow.

About the Artist:
Danny Meisinger
Danny Meisinger is a studio potter and educator based in Kansas, with over 30 years of experience working with clay. He began his journey in ceramics in high school and later studied at the University of Kansas before leaving to build his own studio and wood kiln, launching a full-time career in pottery in 1989. Over the decades, Danny’s work has evolved from functional ware to larger sculptural forms, and he has exhibited his work across the country through wholesale accounts, galleries, and art fairs.
A dedicated teacher, Danny leads workshops and classes that welcome both beginners and experienced potters into the studio. His teaching philosophy emphasizes skill-building, a deeper understanding of the material, and metaphor-driven learning that connects technique with meaning. Danny’s practice is rooted in curiosity, humility, and a belief in clay as a lifelong teacher.
When he’s not in the studio, Danny is grounded by family and guided by a broader vision of creativity as a spirit-filled force that helps bring more humanity and connection into the world.
